Miscellaneous functional and aesthetic concerns

Lagophthalmos

In cases of traumatic facial nerve or unrecovered bells palsies or in lid lags exposure keratitis is a real problem with cosmetic concern. In these cases temporalis aponeurosis transfer provides better functional and cosmetic purpose than tarsorrhaphy.

 

Xanthelasma

In old age and pre / post menopausal females, it is a common occurance and actually poses a cosmetic problem. Excision and recontouring and repair gives very good results.

 

Warts

Warts  over lids and over periocular areas are not uncommon. They are easily excised and cosmesis can be restored by approximating with 6/0 Nylon sutures. The similarly  xanthelasma can be managed efficiently and with very good cosmesis. 

 

Blepharochalasis

Loosening of the lid tissues in general including muscles measured excision is done and repaired them back provide satisfactory results. 

 

Dermatochalasis

Skin of the upper lid specially get loosened and fold obstruct the visual axis besides the cosmetic problem. It is excised in guarded way not to cause lid lag and the margins are approximated gives very good results. 

 

 Miscellaneous

Lipoma of elderly poses cosmetic disfigurement specially for highly placed personnel. This is excised and the opening in orbital septum is properly closed to prevent recurrences or herniations. The results are gratifying.
